The Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content and lawmaker representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Teslim has lauded peaceful conduct of Local Congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State.
The Oyo Central lawmaker, in a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Com. YSO Olaniyi, also urged the new party officials to immediately settle down and face the task of uniting existing members, and expanding the membership base of the party ahead of 2023 general elections.
Oloye Folarin commended all party stakeholders and members for the impressive turn out and their peaceful conduct before, during and after the local congresses.
He acknowledged the commendable roles of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) played by all security agencies in maintaining peace and orderliness before, during and after the local congress.
“Oyo State APC should remain united and formidable with a view to dislodging the misruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State. The contributions of our leader towards the success of the July 31st congresses and today’s local congresses cannot be quantified”.
For those that might have any grievances, Oloye Folarin assured them that in the spirit of reconciliation and harmony, their concerns will be addressed through the party’s internal mechanisms.
“I am happy that there is no report of parallel congresses held across the 33 LGAs of the state. This shows that the exercise was democratic and all-inclusive”.
“The Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC will soon announce APC Local Congress Appeal Panels to entertain all genuine complaints arising from today’s exercise” the statement concluded.
