Not only that but also presented financial assistance to the families of late Mustapha Fatai Toki, Vigilante Patrol Team Leader and late Tajudeen Salaudeen Arogunmasa, Commandant, Amotekun Security Network who died while in active services.
While delivering his speech, Borikansunwon said, ” the event of formal presentation of grant-in-aid to Community Development Associations(CDAs) and distribution of motorcycles to the vigilante groups, otherwise known as local security operatives is a “two in one” programme specially put together in furtherance of the welfarist disposition of the Oyo State Government ably led by the Executive Governor, His Excellency Engineer Abiodun Oluseyi Makinde”.
While substantiating the importance of security, he said, ” the importance of security of lives and properties of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo State. The untiring efforts of men of the vigilante groups and local security outfits in our local government area deserve accolades and sincere attention. I must assure you that the local government is readily available to come to the aid of our local security operatives whenever the need arises”.
For emphasis, he stressed that, ” in a drastic move to support self-help projects and enhance the performances of local security operatives today, financial grants will be presented to Community Development Associations(CDAs) across all the geo-political wards in Kajola Local Government Area to aid their developmental activities while Bajaj Motorcycles will be distributed to local security outfits in order to aid their mobility for optimal performance”.
Borikansunwon added that,” it is not a gain saying that governments at all levels in Nigeria have been putting together a lot of synergies in order to ensure adequate security and peaceful coexistence at this point in time. I thus urge our people to cooperate with the security apparatus by providing useful and timely information so that quick action could be taken whenever there is any problem”.
Also, ” I wish to admonish the stakeholders in the voluntary community development service not to relent in their efforts in sensitising people; initiating and supervising new, ongoing and abandoned self-help projects and making people see reasons our community should strive hard to subscribe to the self-help projects’ endowment fund. We all know that the present economic situation is not so friendly, yet we must try our best to improve our socio-economic life, since no government, no matter how benevolent, can single handedly provide all the basic amenities needed by the people”.
