The incumbent administration in Oyo State under the leadership of Governor ‘Seyi Makinde will continue to support groups and associations creating employments for the teaming populace in the state.
The Special Adviser on Strategy and Political Matters, Hon Babatunde Oduyoye, who stated this while receiving the leadership of the Rentals Association of Oyo State, said that the governor would ensure the incubation of policies and programmes that will make such organisations flourish.
Oduyoye and the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, had jointly received the leadership of the association on Monday.
The duo were quoted in in a statement signed by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to Governor Makinde, Moses Alao, as saying that the Makinde administration has been implementing policies that will make life better for the people, including free education, security of lives and properties and expansion of the state’s economy.
They noted that with the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare including prompt payment of salaries, the economy of the state has been buoyed enough for small scale business owners including operators of rental services, to flourish.
Speaking while receiving the RAN members, Oduyoye said the Makinde government is always happy to relate with associations and groups like RAN, stating that their businesses have been benefiting from the direct policies of the government and that the government would work towards ensuring that they get more benefits that will help their businesses.
Oduyoye promised that members of the association will benefit from the Medium and Small Scale Enterprises Development loan under the Oyo State Investment Promotion Agency (OYSIPA) as demanded by the members.
He said: “I welcome you to the Oyo State Government Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan. We are always glad to relate with associations like yours, because His Excellency recognises the important role you play in society, creating jobs.
“For parties and events to take place, we all know that there must be security and people must have money in their pockets. The Governor Makinde administration has been taking care of these important areas.
“As you are aware, education is now free in the state. Equally, the government ensures that salaries and pensions are paid on the 25th of every month. The billions of Naira that go into the Oyo State economy monthly has made life more meaningful for the people and they can now patronise your business.
“Today, Oyo State workers are credit-worthy; they can secure your services and tell you that you will get paid on 25th of the month and it will be so.”
Oduyoye added that the few complaints coming from a section of the society have been from politicians, noting that the governor deemed it fit to address the yearnings of the residents of the state first and that he would move on to address the aspirations of politicians in the coming months.
In his own speech, Adisa encouraged RAN members to continue to support Governor Makinde, stating that the good governance being provided by the governor in education and other sectors need to be sustained.
Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Rentals Association of Nigeria, Alhaja Sekinat Olasupo, appreciated Governor Makinde for the good works he has been doing in developing the state.
“We are here to commend the governor for what he is doing. The people of the state appreciate his efforts and we are here to appreciate him and to assure him that we are with him and God is with him.”
The group urged the governor to give due recognition to it, especially when there is a state function that needs rental services, urging the governor to also consider its members for the MSME loans.
Similarly, Mrs. Bidemi Busari and Hon. Lukman from Iganna, also lauded the Makinde government for the transformation of the state, especially the ongoing reconstruction of Moniya-Iseyin roads and other projects, stating that members of RAN, which are spread across the state would support the governor in due course.
