On his way from Oja Odan Ogun – State, where he met with loads of people in that area of the Gateway State, the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba land, Chief Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as “Sunday Igboho” visited the private office of the National Vice Chairman in charge of PCRC Southwest Geopolitical Zone, Alhaji Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan in Ake Abeokuta, yesterday Monday 1st of February, 2021.
Chief Adeyemo who arrived late in the night, around 10pm was accompanied by his team and lovers in Ogun State who have been with him since his arrival. They were heard chanting iconic songs in appreciation of his actions against criminals who have made live difficult for Yoruba farmers and other residence by turning our once very safe high ways and forests to dangerous routes through incessant kidnapping for ransoms, destruction of farmlands, raping of women, armed robbery, killing of innocent citizens and many other highly provocative acts.
He was warmly welcomed on behalf of the geopolitical zone by the mouthpiece of Southwest PCRC, Comrade Kunle Sodipo, who also introduce other Southwest PCRC management team members present before calling on the host and NVC for his welcome remark.
In his words, the Chairman National Capacity Building Committee of PCRC in Nigeria, described Chief Igboho as a known activist and defender of the downtrodden in Yoruba land. According to him, the Southwest PCRC made him a Patron 3 years ago with the permission of the National body led by Ambassador Farouk Maiyama (Yariman Jega) PhD based on his antecedents which portrayed him as a defender of all people living in Yoruba land and not a particular ethnic group.
He continued by appreciating Chief Igboho’s heroics against criminals who have for some time now been hiding as herdsmen to perpetrate various degrees of crimes in Yoruba land but cautioned on the need to accept the fact that the highly provocative act is not only being perpetrated by a particular ethnic group. The Mogaji Mogaji Fosunpaja of Ibadan land made reference to some arrests made by the Police in Ogun State in recent past and in other States of the Southwest which revealed after investigation that criminals from other tribes now dress like herdsmen to kidnap and demand for ransom.
He concluded by calling on all well meaning Nigerians and ethnic leaders across geopolitical zones of the country to rise to the occasion by helping the government to identify and flush out criminal elements amongst them.
In his address, the Akoni Oodua, Chief Sunday Igboho emphatically stated that he is not out for cheap popularity, politics or financial gain. He dared anybody who has given him money for the ongoing struggle to safe the soul of Yoruba land to come out in public and talk. He thanked the PCRC national leader for receiving him in his office at a time like this when we all need to leave politics, ethnic and religious sentiments and safe our brothers and sisters both home and in the diaspora from the evil acts of criminals, especially herdsmen who have put many through horrific experiences which can not be recounted without tears even if survived.
He thanked the Government of Ogun State, led by Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for placing ahead of anything else, the safety and security of Ogun State people who voted him as their Governor. Expressing his concern, Chief Igboho lamented the level at which we mix security with politics in Nigeria. According to him, the security of the people as being practised in developing and the developed nations, is not negotiable and must not be politicized for any reason. He acknowledged the good role being played by the PCRC in support of the Nigeria Police and cited such priceless role as one of the reasons he accepted to be a Southwest PCRC Patron 3 years ago.
According to him, he should be appreciated by the good Fulani people whose long peaceful image is being dented by the rampaging criminal herders who by Olodumare’s grace only, he will flush out of Yoruba land. The Oyo State icon of hope asked those denting his image by spreading lies on social media that he is against the Federal Government amongst many other fallacies, to desist before they meet their waterloo. He said i quote “if Olodumare be for me, no man can be against me”.
On his way out and after posing for photographs, the numbers of youths and supporters of Akoni Oodua waiting outside has tripled but the iconic figure took time to engage the youths and advise them to shun cultism and every other criminal acts capable of denting the good image of the Yoruba race. He was loudly cheered while his name was chanted repeatedly with words like “O mo Igboho, o mo oosa”.
