Ilaji humbled Adeshina with 2-1 in a friendly football match played between the two football clubs in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The match played at main Ilaji Stadium on Friday, January 15 was said to have been observed by International scouts agent from Europe .
The first goal for the Ilaji team came through Agbaje Ahmed at the 23rd minutes and the second goal scored by Akinpelu Kuyom at the 36th minutes, while a lone goal came through for Adeshina FC through Banji Abiona to the end of the first half of the match.
The friendly football match organized by Hon. Sheriff Adeshina, a chieftain of People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Ibadan Northwest was witnessed by scouting agent from Finland Footbal Federation and footbal lovers.
Speaking with journalists after the encounter at the Ilaji stadium , Ona Ara Local government, the organiser, Hon Sherrif Segun Adesina (SSA) said the match was put up to engage the youths , discover young talents and create a sense of belonging to all players and moreso to make them relevant and useful for themselves and the country at large.
The state board member who described sport development as the source of youthful development said his intention was to establish the encounter as a means of depicting the gains of sport development from Oyo State to the nation and the world at large.
“We believe this event is an opportunity for the young ones to get out there and showcase themselves and their stuff to other organisation that may want to take them to the next level.”
The caretaker chairman Ona Ara Hon. Musibaudeen Adesina Sanusi (Shaba) described the match as very commendable, adding that activities like this can bring development to any society and country in sport, and football especially.
“We have to commend Hon Sherrif and most especially the chairman and management of Ilaji hotels, sports and resorts, for the warmly accommodation and the zeal for this initiative because there are so many talents in Oyo State, and by this kind of match, they can be discovered.
Mr Adebanjo Olusegun, who is also one of Governor Seyi Makinde Special Assistants also commended Adesina FC for their performance despite being away match with Ilaji FC and categorically said if the team continue with training and also provides necessary football materials for them, definitely they’ll beat Ilaji FC and any other team they might face in future. He equally commended Hon Segun Sheriff Adesina for his steadfastness and support for the Youth and Seyi Makinde’s led administration.
Engr Dotun Sanusi, CEO, Ilaji Hotel and Resort Centre who had no privilege to witness the football match hailed the two clubs and most importantly, Adeshina FC for brilliance and dexterity showed while on field with Ilaji Football Club.
He opined that he would have loved to have a replay of the match where he would be on ground as one of the spectators.
Medals were Presented by the publisher Bowa Media, Bodija Akinwale to the head coach ilaji FC , caretaker Chairman ona Ara LG and also to the Chairman Ilaji hotels, Engr. Dotun Sanusi, for thier individual and selfless supports towards youths and sporting activities
Other dignitaries who spoke at the programme include the chief security officer, Ilaji hotels who represented the CEO/chairman Ilaji hotels, sports and resorts and many others.
