The elder brother of Oyo State Governor, Oloye Muyiwa Makinde has revealed the role played by a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan leading to the 2019 general elections.
Mr Makinde who is also the Jagun of Ibadan said Olopoeyan vowed to work against the interest of his party shortly after the party concluded it primary elections for Oyo South Senatorial District and Ibadan North East, South East Federal Constituency.
Makinde who was a guest on Lagelu FM political programme “Bosenlo” with Ajibola Akinyefa.
He corroborated the position of Governor Makinde’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Bayo Lawal who had described Olopoeyan as an overrated politician.
When asked to comment on the crisis rocking the PDP in the Southwest and the leadership tussle between Governor Makinde and former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, the Governor’s elder brother noted that the crisis will be resolved soon.
Speaking further, Mr Makinde revealed that Fayose’s ex-deputy, Professor Olusola Eleka is a consultant to the Oyo State Government.
This newspaper learnt that shortly after the inauguration of Governor Makinde in 2019, he appointed Eleka as a consultant to supervise Oyo State Ministry of Education.
Recall Eleka doubled as Commissioner for Education in Ekiti State in which Ekiti took first position in two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017 National Examination Council (NECO). That feat could have been responsible for the appointment of Eleka by Governor Makinde.
