Former President of Nigeria, chief Olusegun Obasanjo has called for a stronger synergy between political leadership and the people to collectively address some of the many challenges affecting the nation.
The former President stated this when he paid a visit to Governor Seyi Makinde in his office to commiserate with him over the demise of his mother and to attend a function in Ibadan
President Obasanjo who explained that apart from security challenges, the country is also undergoing unstable political leadership, economic challenges and other concerns, urged Nigerians to ensure all hands are on deck to change the country’s current narrative
While explaining that he had come to grace a book launch in honour of late chief Lamidi Adedibu a former chieftain of PDP, President Obasanjo noted that he was impressed by stories of development in the state particularly in Oke Ogun region of the state, promising to keep abreast of happenings in the state
In his response Governor Seyi Makinde appreciated Chief Obasanjo for his fatherly role always, while explaining some of his policy thrust especially agriculture which he said would move the state from dependent on federal allocation, the Governor also assured full realization of values for Ikere Gorge Dam
Governor Makinde equally promised to regularly visit the former president for direction and counsel on policies of governance.
