The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has commissioned 2Division Officers’ Transit Camp at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment Odogbo, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Makinde’s commissioning of the military transit camp in Ibadan took place on Thursday, November 5 while the Headquarters 2Division Operation Room which was facilitated and commissioned by former Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General Ipoola Alani Akinrinade(Rtd) had earlier taken place.
Makinde in his speech said that he would have been retired by now, provided he was considered for the integration into the Nigerian Army in 1985 but he was not given the consideration, sequel to his failure and inability to meet up with the needed requirements.
He however stressed that he is always happy to be invited to events that centre majorly on infrastructural developments which are meant for benefits of the people.
Makinde said that the military had been wonderful and commendable in maintenance of the infrastructures already in place, adding that he believes same gestures would be applied to maintain the news facilities which are just on board.
He stressed that the military had good records and commendable antecedents, based on evergreen infrastructures which their engineers had put in place in Oil and Gas where he had worked for so many years.
He said he was a friend of army owing to their competence, professionalism and expertise, he sighted cases of Edo and Ondo States where he was to supervise and monitor the gubernatorial elections.
Makinde added that the military men were so patriotic and committed to duties in those states, sequel to their professional handling of official assignments.
He equally lavished encomiums on them based on concerted efforts and commitment ensured towards the prevention of further crises being orchestrated by the suspected hoodlums in the pacesetter state.
Earlier, General Officer Commanding 2Division Nigeria Army, Major General AB Omozoje appreciated Makinde and former Chief of Defense Staff, Lt. General Ipoola Alani Akinrinade(Rtd) for their readiness and eagerness to identify with the army of soldiers, stressing that the duo are strong pillars to the sustainability of the military force in the pacesetter state.
He equally commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai who had been time without numbers facilitated infrastructures across the military cantonments in all 36 states of the federation, adding that Buratai remained a noble leader in military force who always cares about the wellbeing of the soldiers.
Omozoje enjoined the officers at Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Odogbo, Ibadan to make the proper maintenance of the facilities their priority.
The event had in attendance the Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Hamid Adekunle Makama, former Chief of Defence Staff, General Alani Akinrinade (rtd), former Lagos State Military Administrator, Brigadier General Raji Rasaki (rtd), chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Senator Hosea Agboola, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, COMPOL Fatai Owoseni (rtd) and a host of others.
