Sequel to curfew declared by the monarch of Igannaland, Iganna Local Council Development Area(LCDA), Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, HRM Oba Saliu Azeez Oyemonla. A source has said that the purpose of curfew’s declaration is aimed at traditional cleansing against the current state of insecurity in the community and its environs.
The source who pleaded to speak with the crew of naijatodaynews.com on a condition of anonymity disclosed that the community’s monarch declared the curfew on Thursday, November 5, so as to traditionally cleanse the community against the current state of insecurity.
The source added that the curfew was not only limited to females only but also males, in order to ensure that no single soul lost in respect of the atonement.
The source said that the issue of kidnappings, armed robbery and other dastardly acts had become the order of the day in the town and its environs.
The source added that the monarch, kingmakers and other stakeholders in the community took the traditional step in order to wage war against the enemies of progress who are disturbing the town and its environs.
The source said that so many cases of kidnappings had happened in the past,he sighted example of Iganna, LCDA Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Adeleke Olayiwola who was kidnapped recently and subsequently gained freedom owing to huge amount of money being doled out to the suspected kidnappers.
The source revealed that when things like this are happening in Yorubaland, there are traditional methods which could be applied to checkmate the menace completely.
The source therefore enjoined the suspected kidnappers, armed robbery and other agents of darkness disturbing the community to refrain from such acts of criminality and lawlessness.
Concerted efforts were made to speak with the monarch to extract some pieces of information as at the time of filling the report but all were proved abortive.
