Ibadan over the decades has been the darling of visitors and admirers who has drawn to her rich repertoire in Nigeria history.
Modern terminal bus stations in Oyo State with lay-bys, walkways, depot, parks, farside and shelter is one of the ways to revamp and reclaim land areas from misuse.
The modern terminals will enable the state capital to wear a must- visit- me look as this will create visual drivers for the urban renewal initiative.
Inhabitants and visitors of Oyo State will also enjoy and tour the state more. With good transport regulations, Oyo State internal generated revenue will increase, flagrant disobedience of traffic rules and regulations will be a thing of the past with this initiative.
With the concept of modern terminals in Oyo State which shows the way for restructuring of public transport system coupled with efficient traffic regulation, Oyo State will be economically balanced and residents of the state will also enjoy the redesign and modelling of the infrastructure.
One of the primary purpose of urban renewal is to restore economic viability to the state by attracting external private and public investment and by encouraging business start-ups as well as survival, with the ultra modern terminals with good buses that can move from one state to another, the living conditions of residents will be improved by partnering with other resources that can help improve public and other social and health resources in Oyo State.
The approval for the procurement of one hundred and six mass transit buses will also enhance intra city mobility and complement its fleet of buses from the pacesetter transport service.
Governor Seyi Makinde will also ensure that rapid transit system in Oyo State will cap the transport sector with interstate services as this will assist in mobility of agricultural produces and positively impact on the state economy.
Furthermore, the economic advancements will create employment opportunities for specialists in the field; create jobs for the teeming youths in the state; the bus terminals also to be known as transport interchanges, will not only address problems associated with transportation in Ibadan, the state capital, they will also address security issues and provide better livelihood for the teeming youths.
The reality about transportation is that it is future-oriented. If we are planning for what we have, we are behind the curve and this is one of the reasons why Governor Seyi Makinde wants the future of transport sector in the state to have a new touch,the features of the ultra- modern terminals will include Restaurants, Shops and Automated Teller Machine (ATM) galleries that will enhance the growth of the state.
With the good vision of the Governor of Oyo State towards this sector, it will make the state to have a beautiful outlook, provide jobs, solve the problem of insecurity, and boost the IGR of the state.
