Youths in Oyo State have been advised to rise up to the stage where they could be able to secure their places in the world by taking the bull by the horn.
This was stated by the Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Seun Fakorede during a press conference in commemoration of this year’s International Youth Day tagged “YOUTH ENGAGEMENT FOR GLOBAL ACTION”.
Fakorede noted that if youths could conquer their local communities, they would become the indispensable materials across the world.
He added that the plans earmarked for the youths in Oyo state are adequate to launch them to the next level.
He outlined the steps to be taken by the present administration to actualise the projects embarked on to change the entire cause for youth engagement in the state, stressing that his ministry in conjunction with a lot of voluntary organizations especially those under the supervision of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Oyo state chapter, Mrs Bobola Agbeja described August 12th as the day set aside by the United Nations to celebrate the Youths and to motivate youths that are doing fine in their various endeavours.
Agbeja charged the Youths not to wait endlessly for government patronage but map out strategies that will enhance national development.
The event was attended by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Sports, Kazeem Bolarinwa, his Sports counterpart Oyewumi Oluwatobiloba and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youths and Sport Development.
In his goodwill message, the Special Assistant on Sports, Hon Oyewumi Tobiloba said the administration of Engr Seyi Makinde has resolved to create employment opportunities for the teeming youths in the sports development.
He added that youths would benefit immensely from remodeling of Lekan Salami Sports Complex. Adding that added that Makinde would also construct mini stadia in other zones of the state.
