The Association of Medical and Dental Officers (AMDO), Oyo State Chapter said that the proposed strike action was suspended in order to honour Governor Seyi Makinde, in recognition of his intervention at a crucial period.
AMDO disclosed this in a release jointly signed by the duo of Ajibolu Adeniran Oke and Ebunoluwa Mojisola Adeoye who are the Chairman and Secretary of the association.
In their words,”The Association of Medical and Dental Officers of Oyo State (AMDO) during an Emergency General meeting held on the 4th of July 2020 resolved to suspend the proposed warning strike which should have commenced after the expiration of our 21 days ultimatum to the state government on Monday 6th July 2020″.
“The proposed strike is suspended to honour his Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State Engineer Seyi Makinde in recognition of his intervention at a crucial period and for constituting a negotiating committee to look into the various demands presented by our association. We appeal that he uses his good office to expedite the implementation of these demands”.
“We wish to reassure the good people of Oyo State and the entire populace that Medical Doctors in the service of the Pace Setter State are committed to ensuring qualitative and prompt services to the teaming populace and should please appeal to the Government to do the needful on time”.
“However, we wish to state that, we are patiently waiting for the implementation of our demands as requested on or before Friday 31st July, 2020 after which we can no longer guarantee industrial harmony as we may likely embark on an indefinite strike action until all our demands are met”.
