The Oyo State Government has appointed Dr Uwom Eze, a Forensic Pathologist with the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan as the Chairman of the State Committee on Management of the Dead (MotD).
The Secretary to the Government of Oyo State, Mrs. Adebamiwo Adeosun did the formal inauguration of the Committee on behalf of the Governor of the State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
In a release issued by UCH Covid-19 Media Team and made available to naijatodaynews.com on Thursday, June 4th said, “the MotD Committee within the Ministry of Health, and in collaboration with other relevant ministries and agencies, especially the Ministry of Justice and the Police, will operationalise the Oyo State Coroners’ Law 2018 accordingly, in line with the mandate contained therein”.
“All aspects of Management of the Dead including forensic death investigation, MotD following any disasters, appropriate death certification in all health facilities within the State, standard mortuary practice, training of personnel in the MotD, public education/enlightenment, Family and Community Liaison services on MotD, standard burial practices, and other matters related to the dead, will be addressed”.
“The CMD on behalf of UCH Management congratulates Dr. Eze on his appointment, and extends his goodwill of support to him and other members of the Committee”.
“As at the close of business on Wednesday, 3rd June, 2020, the hospital did not have new or confirmed case of COVID 19”.
