COVID-19: UCH Has Not Recorded Any New Case For Almost A Week — CMD

The Chief Medical Director, University College Hospital(UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has said that for about six days running, the hospital has not recorded any new case of coronavirus pestilence.

Otegbayo disclosed this in a release ‘Update on Diagnosed Cases of Covid-19 in the UCH, Ibadan’, issued by the Hospital’s Covid-19 Media Team and made available to Naija Today News on Tuesday, May 12th.

In another development, “another milestone was recorded at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan with the commencement of free distribution of UCH customized face masks to all staff of the hospital. The CMD, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo flagged off the distribution at the hospital’s foyer”.

“Similarly, the CMD launched the UCH produced and branded face shields”.

“At the event, Prof. Otegbayo disclosed that the UCH COVID 19 Task Force, the office of Head of General Administration and the Special Duties Unit have been mandated to design and produce coveralls (Hazmat suits) to be used by the frontline health workers in the hospital”.

“According to the CMD, all these initiatives by the hospital were borne out of the necessity to provide adequate protective equipment for all staff of the hospital”.

” He emphasised that he is passionate about staff welfare, hence would do everything possible to create a conducive working environment for the staff. This ultimately will translate to better patient care in the hospital”.

“Earlier, the head of the UCH COVID-19 task force, Dr. Uwom Eze had appreciated the kind gestures of the management in providing the equipment and promised that the equipment will be put to good use”.

In its reiteration, “We are glad to inform that for about six days running, the hospital has not recorded any new case of COVID 19”.

“The University College Hospital, Ibadan will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients”.

“The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to abide by the required infection prevention and control measures such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers & face masks”.

“We will continue to update the public accordingly” and equally enjoined all to stay safe.
