An advocacy group under the aegis of Eruwa Advocate Group For Good Governance has urged the lawmaker representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency, Hon. (Engr) Aderemi Oseni to use his position to develop the constituency by representing the people meritoriously.
The group in an open letter made available to our reporter on Tuesday, expressed their concerns on the administrative styles of the lawmaker, noting that he should fulfill all the promises made prior to the election which produced him.
Oseni who is the Chairman of the house committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) had recently accused the works’ minister of neglecting his duty and priorities. The issue which had since spurred netizens interest on social media.
Here is the open letter in detail;
OPEN LETTER TO HON REMI OSENI ON THE NEED TO REPRESENT THE CONSTITUENTS MERITORIOUSLY
Distinguish Honourable Sir,
Noteworthy, you assumed the position with luck all over you. To start with, as a first timer you have a great privilege to be the Chairman of the house committee on federal road maintenance agency (FERMA) at the house of representatives where you are representing us.
We want to use this medium again to congratulate you on the successful result you polled at the 2023 election from the good people of Ibarapa East and Ido federal constituency.
We hope you count yourself lucky to have defeated the then incumbent lawmaker, Hon Oluyemi Adewale Taiwo who possessed virtually everything needed to have won the election. You are lucky in the sense that, after scaling through the hurdles of primary election in the All Progressives Congress (APC), having a major contender who was a former house of representatives member, Hon Sunday Adepoju Omoyin who happens to be a true son of Eruwa, trust you understand what that means? Despite having a turbulent election process, we hope you could sustain that very wide chance God gave to you to have been distinguished.
Distinguish Honourable Sir, let us remind you that a year and half is gone and the time for reckoning is no other time than now. We have heard lots of credits on various projects and programs attributed to you, we read of some empowerment programs which were limited within the caprice of your party and group members, we cannot forget some other projects you did before election such as the provision of transformers to Ido, cold room, boreholes and others.
To begin with, we will flashback to the activities that preempt your emergence. Two years ago, during your campaign tour, several promises were made to churches, mosques, communities under the jurisdiction of Ibarapa East, quite unfortunate that till today, your promises to all those organisations are yet to be fulfilled despite promising to achieve them within your one year in office.
You promised numerous transformers which we only got two in Ibarapa East and not fewer than ten in Ido, you promised a borehole per polling unit but to our dismay we are yet to get one.
Bad habits die hard. The anxiety of the campaign that time lured you to promise to make the payments of all candidates for WAEC and UTME in the constituency. That’s well appreciated but up till date there is no record of actual beneficiaries, all what we have been seeing around is contradicted figures from your aides and group members.
The above concerns have prompted us to call your attention to certain things you might not know about Ibarapa politics especially Eruwa which is our ancestral domiciliary .
Honourable Sir, this letter will avail you the opportunity to give feedback and accountability to the good people of Ibarapa East and Ido federal constituency.
God knows who will be crowned victorious when it’s 2027, but the determinants of your aspiration lies with God, the party supremacy, stakeholders in the polity, youth, artisans, religious organizations and so on.
However, there are some questions begging for answers that we need to ask you sir. Do you think you have satisfactorily done enough for your constituency, to produce and return you back to the house of representatives or other positions you may likely be interested in come 2027?
Do you think you have nurtured and sustained the pillars of party reinforcement and incentives that could make them drum support for you?
Do you think you have been fair to those who worked tirelessly with you all through the election period?
Have you ever asked yourself if you have been fair to the community in general?
Don’t you think that the sustenance and development of the party is another crucial assignment for you? Anyway, you might have gotten the spiritual assurance that you will have it so easy to the green chamber or government house comes 2027.
Sir, as a matter of fact, you will have to revisit your drawing board if and if at all such will nearly happen. You need to see beyond being praised by your so called pre election achievements which cannot justify whether you have performed or not after you have been given the mandate you requested for through the book of Hezekiah then.
Our attention has been drawn to some individuals who in their deceptive way of life are deceiving you with unduly deserved accolades. You need to ask yourself again or maybe listen to the walls and hear what the sound is echoing. Hon Engr sir, you have to buckle up before the term runs out.
Distinguished Hon Sir, we want to inform you that it is clear to us that 95% of your achievements were done before election and we humbly put it to you to make clarification and amend on certain issues here.
In one of your writeups, you made it known that you will always be in your Constituency 24/7, yet you have only been to your Constituency just twice in the last one and half year.
Did you ever consult your “think thank” team if there is any to know what exactly is the people’s needs before you start balling on any open opportunities?
Ever since you made the appointment of your aides, you have never made public their names and how they can be communicated. They are supposed to be feeding you on necessary information that should get to you.
Did you even appoint those that have the capacity, that we can easily approach and understand the terrain of governance with the aim of giving back to the community?
How well have you transformed your Constituency with the influence of being the chairman, House of representatives’ committee on FERMA and also belonging to over seven top standing committees at the national assembly.
While some of your colleagues have facilitated more than twenty five federal appointments for their respective constituents, our youths are still wallowing in the pool of hope, the same thing in the area of training and empowerment for youth and artisans. Our farmers, market women, students and other stakeholders have been neglected.
A lot of times when you think money can pave the way, it doesn’t work out in that direction, especially when you are dealing with Eruwa people, we don’t trade our interest.
Eruwa town is a complex community, composed of huge numbers of technocrats, high class politicians, ever dynamic youth, charismatic elders, most of them worked fervently for your emergence during the election which produced you.
The same way we supported you is the same way we can make other choices that we consider good for us. It is pertinent to strongly advise you on the need to checkmate your allies from Ibarapa East by asking them to justify all you claimed to have achieved and facilitated to the community, make sure you replicate the same in Ido.
Approach those who worked together to achieve the victory at the 2023 election, artisans, religious organizations, landlord associations, even your own ROCOF group, party. Motivate them that they will always be good to go. Hence, you have to understand that Eruwa is a key determinant in who becomes the house of representatives when it comes to 2027.
Finally, we will not relent in giving you the necessary support as much as you are willing to take into consideration the interest of the consistency devoid of bias or partiality, and fulfilling all the promises made during the election period. Eruwa people and by extension Ibarapa East stand for oneness and progress of our community, we hope you would treat our message with utmost priority as we look forward to receiving the democratic values through accelerating progress and development to our constituency.
Accept Our Solidarity!
Signed
Eruwa Advocate Group For Good Governance
