In a historic display of unity and support, the traditional rulers of Ibadanland, known as Baales, gathered to endorse Jubril Dotun Sanusi’s governorship bid. The event, held at Ilaji Hotels and Resorts, marked a significant milestone in Sanusi’s campaign, as the Baales not only pledged their unwavering support but also contributed funds to back his ambition.

The Head of the Baales, who addressed the gathering, emphasized that the call for Sanusi to serve as governor is a result of his demonstrated capability and capacity to make a positive impact on the state. He urged Sanusi to heed the call, assuring him of their trust and confidence in his leadership abilities.

The Baales took turns to offer prayers and words of encouragement, demonstrating their commitment to the “JDS project.” In a remarkable show of support, they contributed money to symbolize their trust and backing for Sanusi’s governorship bid. The funds were handed over to Chief Waheed Adurodekun, a Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who has been a strong proponent of Sanusi’s candidacy.

Hon. Gbadamosi Kazeem, a former Chairman of Lagelu Local Government Area, praised the Baales’ demonstration of support and assured them that the political class in Oyo State is united behind Sanusi. He emphasized that Sanusi’s popularity and vision make him the ideal candidate for the governorship position.

The Baales further demonstrated their commitment by refusing entertainment from their host, Sanusi, and instead focused on strategizing for his victory. They also received registration booklets to mobilize supporters at the grassroots level, indicating a strong political structure and a clear advantage for victory.

This unprecedented show of support from the traditional rulers of Ibadanland is a significant boost to Sanusi’s gubernatorial bid, and it underscores his growing popularity and acceptance across the state. With the backing of the Baales, Sanusi’s campaign is poised for success, and his vision for a better Oyo State is one step closer to becoming a reality.
