Makinde Urges Royal Fathers To Promote Peace, Development In Oyo State

Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has called on traditional institutions in the state to support his government in promoting peace, security, and overall development. Makinde made this call during the official coronation and presentation of staff of office to the first Onifiditi of Fiditi, Oba Sakiru Oyewole Adekola-Oyelere, Ajani-Eedu II.

The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Bayo Lawal, urged Oba Adekola-Oyelere to work closely with the government to address pressing issues in his domain and ensure the wellbeing and progress of his community. He emphasized the importance of security, education, healthcare, and community development, and encouraged the people of Fiditi to support their new Oba.

Makinde noted that Fiditi is blessed with natural resources, including various fruits, and urged the Oba to translate these potentials into commercial and profitable ventures for the benefit of the community and the state. He stressed the need for collaboration between the traditional institution and government authorities to promote security and overall development.

The governor also appealed to the royal father to rule with integrity and dedication to the wellbeing of all, fostering unity and progress in his domain. He warned that the government has zero tolerance for criminality and lawlessness and expects royal fathers to work hand in hand with government authorities to ensure the prevalence of the rule of law and order in the state.

In his response, Oba Adekola-Oyelere thanked the governor for his support and pledged to grow Fiditi’s economy, attract businesses, and create opportunities for all during his reign.

The event was attended by various government officials, including the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, represented by the chairman, House Committee on Chieftaincy Matters, Honourable Akintunde Emmanuel; Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Fola Oyekunle, and other traditional rulers and religious leaders.
