As the Muslim community in Nigeria and around the world prepares to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festival, High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, has urged Muslims to emulate the sacrifices and virtues of Prophet Ibrahim. In a felicitation message, High Chief Ladoja encouraged the Muslim faithful to reflect on the lessons of the Eid-el-Kabir, which include sacrifice, love, charity, and piety, among others.
He emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationships among people of different faiths and backgrounds, urging Muslims to work with other religious groups for the progress and unity of Nigeria. High Chief Ladoja also drew attention to the symbolic significance of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command.
He noted that the prophet’s example teaches valuable lessons about the rewards of faith, patience, and perseverance, even in the face of adversity. High Chief Ladoja advised Muslims to eschew tendencies that could undermine national unity and stability, instead embracing the values of tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect.
