The newly sworn in executive chairman of Oluyole local government has reeled out some of his economic agenda for grassroots development and improved revenue drive in the council.

Olatunji disclosed this on Saturday consequent upon his official inauguration by the executive governor yesterday alongside 32 others yesterday in Ibadan.

According to the texts of the document titled: “My Mandate, My Agenda” made available to newsmen, Olatunji disclosed his plan to build an industrial park which would house a computer village, recreation centre, and other social amenities that would attract investors and residents.

Olatunji expressed his determination to think outside the box on how to create employment opportunities, stimulate the grassroots economy, improve on inter community road infrastructures, as well as improve the council’s internally generated revenue among others.

See Address Below:

Today marks a new beginning for our beloved Oluyole local government. I am deeply honored and humbled by the trust you have placed in me to serve as your Chairman.

This is not just a personal victory for me, but a collective triumph for the PDP in Oluyole and every resident who believes in our potential to achieve greatness by entrusting us with this mandate.

I must categorically place on record here and now that I owe this opportunity to serve you to my political father, mentor, and leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, who found me worthy to run for the election as the PDP flag bearer. I’m eternally grateful to you sir, and I’ll do everything humanly possible to make you my proud political father.

I must equally express my profound gratitude to my political benefactor, a selfless and pragmatic leader in the person of Otunba Seye Famujoro who said Akeem go ahead, I’m with you all the way, and like a mother would back her own child, Otunba Seye has backed me all along from day one of this journey. I can never be able to repay your trust and confidence in me, I am eternally grateful to you sir.

As we stand at this threshold of a new chapter, I want to assure you that I remain dedicated and committed to turning our shared vision into a reality.

Our focus as an administration will be on a Strategic Oluyole Grassroots Development Agenda which is a replica of Governor Seyi Makinde’s Sustainable Development Agenda at the grassroots, designed to uplift every corner of our local government and ensuring sustainable growth and prosperity for our people just like Governor Seyi Makinde is doing at the state level.

Our development plan rests on five key pillars which are;

  1. Economic Expansion/Empowerment:

We will foster an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and supports small businesses. Through targeted training programs, micro credit finance initiatives, and partnerships with larger enterprises, we aim to create job opportunities for our unemployed youths and stimulate our local economy.

Our local markets will be revitalized, and new commercial hubs established to serve as engine room of growth.

We have already started talks with some group of investors about having what we call OLUYOLE INDUSTRIAL PARK which will house among others, a computer village similar to what is in Lagos where people from all over Oyo state can come for their computers and phones related purchase and repairs and the talk is processing very smoothly I can assure you. In due time, we will officially unveil the grand plan.

With these measures in place, I’m optimistic we would have triggered an economic stimulation that will help us improve on our internally generated revenue to pursue our lofty programs and initiatives in Oluyole.

  1. Infrastructure Development:

Infrastructure is the backbone of development. We will prioritize the construction and maintenance of roads and public transportation systems to ensure connectivity within the LG. In line with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde for a green environment, we will also prioritize clean and efficient waste management services that will give us a trickle down effect of the laudable job being carried out in this area under the Ministry of Environment.

  1. Education and Healthcare:

The future of our local government lies in the hands of our children. We will invest in our primary school educational facilities and ensure they are well-equipped and staffed with motivated teachers. Vocational training programs will also be expanded to empower our young and promising youths who may not want to pursue the scarce white collar jobs.

Additionally, accessible healthcare is a right we all deserve. We will enhance our primary healthcare centers, ensure the availability of essential medicines, and launch health awareness campaigns to promote preventive care across Oluyole local government.

  1. Agricultural/ Agribusiness Development:

Agriculture remains the lifeblood of our local government as we all know Oluyole is partly agrarian and industrial. We will leverage on our vast arable land to foster strategic development through relevant state MDAs and development partners within and outside Oyo state to bring about what I like to call OLUYOLE AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION.

We will introduce modern farming techniques through strategic partnership with Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), provide access to quality seeds, farm inputs, and support cooperative societies to create revolving wealth and increase productivity as well as extension services and partnerships with agricultural experts which will ensure that our farmers can maximize their yield and income.

  1. Security:

We will improve on our local government’s security architecture through strategic collaboration with mainstream security agencies particularly, the Nigerian Police.

Some of the steps outlined to address our security challenges include:

Establishment of clear communication channels to create formal communication lines between mainstream security agencies and local security outfits such as Amotekun and Local Vigilantes. We will set up regular meetings and joint briefings to share information and discuss security concerns as part of our proactive plans.

We will also focus on areas such as crisis response, prompt intelligence sharing, and community policing techniques.

Community Engagement and Good Governance:

Transparency, accountability, and inclusivity will be the hallmarks of my administration as we embark on this noble journey. Regular town hall meetings, community forums with our traditional, religious, and community leaders, and feedback mechanisms will be put in place to ensure that your voices are heard and your concerns addressed. We will champion a culture of participatory governance where every resident feels involved in the decision-making process.

To achieve these goals, we must work together. The challenges ahead are significant and we can not shy away from the tasks ahead, but as demanding as the tasks ahead may be, so also are the opportunities. By harnessing the collective strength of our local government, we can overcome any obstacle and build a brighter future. I therefore, call upon every resident in Oluyole local government to join hands with us.

Let us take pride in our shared vision, support one another, and contribute to the development of Oluyole. Together, we will create a legacy of progress and prosperity that future generations will look back on with pride, and like I promised during my electioneering campaign, we have already hit the ground running with immediate effect because, Ise ti ya.

Thank you for your trust and support.

Akeem Olatunji
The Executive Chairman
Oluyole LG.
