In a bid to bolster agricultural productivity and ensure food security, the Oyo State Government embarked on the fourth phase of its Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (SAfER) initiative, distributing vital agricultural inputs to 2,537 farmers across the state.

Under the leadership of Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, farmers received a variety of essentials, including cassava stems, hybrid maize seedlings, herbicides, and nap-sack sprayers. The distribution kicked off in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government, with simultaneous distributions in Igboora and Ayete.

Reflecting on previous phases, which saw the disbursement of a N1 billion loan and support for poultry, fishery, and piggery farmers, Olaleye emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring abundant food supply and stabilizing food prices amid economic challenges.

Furthermore, promises of upcoming initiatives such as free livestock vaccinations, distribution of livestock feeds, and subsidies on tractor usage underscored the government’s comprehensive approach to agricultural development.

The sentiment echoed by beneficiary Rafiu Saheed encapsulated the gratitude felt by farmers towards the government’s support, urging fellow recipients to utilize the inputs wisely to enhance their yields and contribute to the state’s agricultural resilience.
