Jagun Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Resorts Sports, Akanran, Ibadan, Chief. Engr. ‘SIR’ Dotun Sanusi, has mourned the death of The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
The Ibadan-born philanthropist who is also the proprietor of ICAST, commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State, the Royal Family, the Olubadan-in-council and the people of Ibadan on the passing of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Balogun.
In a condolence message released on Friday in Ibadan, Engineer Dotun Sanusi stated that the late traditional ruler was a visionary and compassionate leader.
Chief Sanusi noted that the late monarch used his influence as a respected king and a lover of peace to advance the progress of his people, encouraging and motivating them to give their best to the nation.
According to him, the demise of the royal father is a great loss to Ibadan land, Oyo state and Nigeria at large.
He also described Oba Lekan Balogun as an embodiment of peace whose reign witnessed great development of his domain.
He urged the people of Ibadan and Nigerians from different walks of life to honour the eternal memory of the king by imbibing virtues like generosity, peace, tolerance and devotion to unity which he cherished so much.
While urging the people of Ibadanland to take solace in the fact that the late monarch’s reign was peaceful and progressive, Sanusi prayed that God grants repose to the soul of the late monarch.
It will be recalled that the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadan Land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun died late Thursday at the age of 82.
Born in 1942, Oba Balogun ascended the throne on March 11, 2022, after the demise of Oba Saliu Adetunji, Aje Oguguniso III.
The Monarch is survived by wives, children and grandchildren.
