Self- acclaimed Iyaloja General of Oyo state, Princess Folashade Abeo Nurudeen has deployed hoodlums to disrupt a wedding ceremony at Agugu Prayer ground area, Ibadan which was attended by key traditional rulers.
The hoodlums who came in with sophisticated weapons invaded the venue of the wedding, beat attendees at the event while also harassing Oniroko of Iroko land, Oba Olasunkanmi Abioye Opeola and other traditional rulers on attendance at the wedding.
The monarchs in their torture were questioned reasons behind their decision in support of Governor Makinde’s pronouncement of due process in electing the market council leadership in Oyo State.
This decision, to some analysts, has indicated that Abeo Nurudeen is power monger, and must be stopped by the law, even if she had emerged the candidate to the position of the Iyaloja-General of Oyo State, which She is not due for, as she lost seven Clusters to her rival, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje while she managed to clinch only two Clusters.
The thugs, while freeing the monarchs, warned them against due process order of Governor Seyi Makinde, maintained that the governor has no right to appoint, nor influence easy leadership emergence in the state’s market.
The thugs, while declaring Princess Abeo Nurudeen, their sponsor, vowed to deal with monarchs in the state who stand with the decision of Seyi Makinde.
The hoodlums who were reportedly sponsored by the self-acclaimed Iyaloja, Princess Folashade Abeo to disrupt the wedding in order to deliver a warning message to the traditional rulers who were harrassed and beaten to stay clear and desist from supporting the Governor’s stand on due process over the installation of the new Iyaloja of Oyo state, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje who was preferred by the Oyo state traders association having won in a well contested election and polled seven (7) votes to defeat his closest rival, Folashade Abeo who polled two (2) votes.
The election was held as a result of the lingering crisis that has made the news among the two contenders after the Court rulling and Governor of Oyo state, Engr. Seyi Makinde waded in on the crisis rocking the traders association over the fight for the position of the new Iyaloja general of Oyo state and the Court and Government has prior to the election ruled that due process should be followed by the concerned stakeholders of the traders association; this led to the emergence of Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje who was widely accepted by the traders leading to her victory in the election.
Meanwhile, the traditional rulers were saved at the wedding event from further harassment and embarassment at the event by attendees who rushed to the scene in order to restore normalcy and rescue the Kings from being assaulted by the armed hoodlums while they escaped.
“Traditional institutions must be respected and every attempt to stain them publicly will be resisted as our kings are sacred beings and preservers of our common culture and heritage, this is why we would not allow these hoodlums to injure or attempt to rub mud on our kings” an eye witness who preferred to be anonymous said while reporting on the matter.
Folashade Abeo had said “traditional rulers should not support the Governor’s stand on due process and should rather drum support for her ambition and disregard any general election that doesn’t favour her, while also shunning Gov. Makinde’s peace moves”
Recall, Princess Folashade Abeo has been distruping the peace of the state by insisting that she is the most qualified for the seat of Iyaloja general of Oyo state, thereby causing division among the traders association against the wish of the majority among the traders who had publicly rejected her candidacy.
Her recent action could be termed an attempt to Lord herself over the generality of Oyo traders who would not accept her attempt to ridicule authorities, stakeholders and institutions who have maintained that due process remain sacrosanct in the choice of Iyaloja General of Oyo State.
Last week Thursday, Oyo traders gathered at Oroki, Oyo Town and unanimously adopt Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje as their preferred Iyaloja General of Oyo state amidst wide jubilations.
The Iyalaje of Oyo traders and all the Oyo local government iyalojas as well as other top ranking officers of the Oyo Market traders union unanimously throw their weight behind Saratu Aduke and rejected Folashade Abeo.
“ It was revealed on that day that, Abeo has no grassroot presence in any of the market in Oyo and they can not sit and allow an impostor like Princess Folashade Abeo to masquerade as a bonafide trader in Oyo talk less of becoming Iyaloja General of Oyo State”
