Motorists on Ibadan-Oyo Road have cried out to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to rescue them on the Ojoo- Moniya Road which has become deplorable.
Motorists, and passengers lamented potholes have been sweeping away the most expensively rehabilitating road in the state on Friday evening.
The motorists in batches pointed several metres deep pothole under the Ojoo Fly-over near the state bus Terminal in the axis , as almost reaching the teeth of the bridge owing to continuous water log under the flyover.
According to one of the motorists, Adelani Muheedeen who spoke to our correspondent said the fly-over is becoming deserted and draw street lords and urchins under it for evil transactions.
Muheedeen noted that failure of the government to rehabilitate roads often lead to fund inflation when to be constructed.
The motorists added that it is high time government at all levels leverage on pivotal of democracy, which dwells on empowering people, not leaving out adequacy of the rule of law.
Similarly, a passenger, Dauda Ishola noted that Ojoo Flyover has become a shrine of pickpocket, adding that some of these street lords and urchins pretend directing oncoming vehicle along the 12 meter deep pothole under the flyover during the day, remain there until the night into a highway robbery.
Dauda Ishola called on the government of Oyo state to swing to actions in lending its hand of pothole fixing in the area, despite it is said to be a federal government highway, maintaining that failure to do this may mar its good intention siting a park from which revenue is gathered, when undue actions of street lords and urchins become so apparent in the axis.
Meanwhile, residents along Ojoo- Iwo Road have called on the state government to empower its waste management agency towards total removal of waste, refuse and dumped materials in the area.
” it is a belittling move the waste agency in the state has refused to move several beds of refuse, waste materials along the major highway which when not taken seriously may open door to cholera outbreak, may God forbid”, residents said.
Recall, Oyo state government insisted its administration would give zero tolerance to potholes and waste in its course.
