The All Progressives’ Congress, APC ,Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State has unanimously adopted a-30 year old experienced grassroots politician as its consensus chairmanship candidate.
The agreement came as five chairmanship aspirants on Friday 25 August before the official primary election, announced by its state leadership under Mr Isaac Omodewu, stepped down for a consensus candidate, which unveiled former two-term councillor and Legislative leader in the Egbeda Local government council, Hon. Bashiru Dauda , fondly called “DABAS”.
In a fun filled exercise held at its Party Secretariat, Segelu, Iwo Road in Ibadan, all ward delegates from wards 1 to 11 voted for the consensus candidate as supervised by the state electoral officers led by Mrs Titilope Gbadamosi.
In her reaction, the State representative, Titilope Gbadamosi lauded the leaders of the Egbeda APC local council over its renewed innovation and re-styling which attributed to a historic hitch free conduct of election.
Mrs Gbadamosi enjoined other zones and local councils of the Party in the state to emulate Egbeda, noted doing this would strengthen and ease the forthcoming local government elections slated for April 2024 and as well emblem the entire party for embrace by other seventeen accredited political parties in the state including the People’s Democratic Party, PDP among others.
Meanwhile, the electoral officer announced and pasted the emerging councillors, spanned across the 11 wards in the council including:
Ajayi Kazeem Akinsola(Ward1), Abiola Adesina Sefiu(Ward 2), Dairo Olusayo(Ward3), Saka Kamorudeen(Ward 4), Idowu Olalekan(Ward 5), Hon. Prince Olawusi Olaide(ward 6), Hon. Oladimeji Kabiru “Eja”(ward7), Oguntolu Oluwaseun Abefe(ward 8), Hon. Ogungbade Oladele Asimiyu(ward 9), Hon. Adegbayi Lawrence Adebolu(ward 10) and Hon. Adebisi Jelili.
In his brief chat with newsmen, chairmanship candidate, Hon. Dauda Bashiru “Dabas” appreciated the entire local council for strengthening its spirit of oneness and love, commended the leaders for a successful primary election.
Hon. Bashiru ” Dabas” promised to extend real dividends of democracy to every nook and cranny of Egbeda Local government when emerges the administrator in the forthcoming 2024 Local council poll, maintaining that he would continue his usual selfless works within the council despite the election is awaited and as well to do the local constituents proud.
Earlier, chairman of the APC party in Egbeda Local government council Comrade Olawale and other chieftains including Hon. Ogundele Billyamin,
Hon. Bolomope Ibrahim,
Hon. Adebowale Amoo, and Hon. Murewa Adeboje charged party members to promote the party flag bearer aggressively for a fruitful landing, noting that the rigor characterized in the party primary election should be energized without breaking the law and order.
