The Oyo State government has inaugurated a-12 man committee as governing board over the state chapter of Southwestern Security Network Corps ,codenamed “Amotekun”.
The inauguration was formalized on Monday at the Executive Chambers, Governor’s office, Agodi,Ibadan presided over by the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde.
The 12-man security committee headed by retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Sikiru Akande was charged to oversee and heightened security activities of the Amotekun Corps in the State, the governor of the the state, Seyi Makinde pledged to continually support the Corps with sound logistics, health insurance, training and re-training workshop which would strengthen the Corps synergy with other security agencies in the state.
Governor Makinde called the 2,000 newly trained Amotekun Corps to fully action dependable security template as observed in his first term in office, commending the Amotekun members for returning farmers’ to the farm, charged the Amotekun Corps to maintain smoother relationship with the state Police.

“In fact, one of the core reasons why we witnessed accelerated development under Omituntun 1.0 , the first line of defence for rural communities, go through Amotekun’ s accomplishment under Omituntun 1.0 , we’ll see that the strong reason why our farmers in rural communities are able to return to their farmers without fear of attack”, Makinde said.
In his reaction, Chairman, Amotekun Governing Board, AIG Sikiru Akande called the citizens to remain at peace as his administration would ensure security of rural-urban is heightened.
