The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde has been described as an upright and wise person who cannot work against his political protege for someone whose origin is traced to Osun State.
This was coming in connection with the political turmoil happening in Oluyole Local Government ahead of council poll coming up on April 2024, where the current executive chairman, Hon. Popoola Olaide Settle and PDP State Publicity Secretary, Engr. Akeem Olatunji are simultaneously claiming the ticket as the rightful candidates of PDP in the local government.
The outcome of investigation conducted reveals that Olaide Settle remains the rightful candidate, whose candidature was endorsed by notable and strategic PDP leaders led by Hon. Olasunkanmi Salami, Leader Dr Gbola Adetunji, Hon Depo Oyedokun and Baba Emmanuel Akinlade among other notable leaders in Oluyole Local Government.
An anonymous source who does not want his name in print said, the performances of Olaide Settle since he came on board as the council boss had convinced those leaders beyond doubt, to have him back for another term.
The source described ‘Settle’ as a person whose leadership and governance in Oluyole Local government is pleasing the constituents and entire dwellers at the council area.
He however challenged his arch rival for the ticket, Akeem Olatunji to provide the names and signatures of those leaders who endorsed his candidature for the council poll slated for April 2024.
In another vein, the nameless source said, Governor Seyi Makinde could not work against nor jettison Olaide Settle whom he built politically for someone whose origin is traced to Osun State.
He maintained that Makinde can’t be a double standard person who can not respect the decision of those leaders on Olaide Settle whom they have chosen.
An anonymous source added that, despite his assurance that Makinde has not received name of any candidate from Oluyole Local Government, maintaining that his belief stands on fact that, the name of Olaide Settle can’t be rejected by the Governor.
He however asked Akeem Olatunji to thread cautiously as he continues to use the name of Chief Seye Famojuro to sell himself to people of Oluyole Local Government.
The source described Chief Seye Famojuro as highly respected individual who can’t act against the leaders in Oluyole and stance of Governor Seyi Makinde on candidature of Olaide Settle.
