The foremost Legal Luminary and Deputy Director General, Seyi Makinde Campaign Council 2023, Oyo North Senatorial District, Hon. Barr. Adeniyi John Farinto has charged all adherents of Islam to imbibe the virtues of tolerance, understanding and good neighbourliness to one another.
Ijio-born lawyer and consummate politician made this advice in a statement made on occasion of Eid-el-Kabir celebration and sent to news men.
The Ex-Oyo Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, who noted that the unique occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, which is to honour the willingness and submission of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son(Ismael) as an act of obedience to God’s command, stands as an annual festivity which its moral and religious lessons should be strictly complied with.
Farinto who was a member of Oyo State House of Assembly(2011-2015) for Iwajowa State Constituency maintained that, as Muslims in Oke-Ogun , Oyo State, Nigeria and world as a whole are celebrating the festivity of Eid-el-Adha, it becomes essential and necessary that Muslims should imbibe the virtues of tolerance, understanding and good neighbourliness to one another.
He added that, strict adherence to this, would no doubt give an indication of showing mutual love, unity and peaceful coexistence that can sustain uncommon bond among one another.
He reiterated that, the sustenance of good neighbourliness cannot be attained, if tolerance, love and understanding are not considered.
On essence of celebration, Farinto revealed that, it is no doubt in honour of the willingness and readiness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son(Ismael) as an act of obedience to God’s command.
Adding that, the strong and firm faith demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son in line with his earlier promise to Allah,had truly nicknamed him ‘Father of Faith’.
He charged all Muslims to examine and learn from Prophet Ibrahim whose strong faith and belief in oneness of God till today makes him an unforgettable prophet of God.
Farinto added that, the adherents of Islam should not celebrate alone but should also reflect on moral and spiritual lessons that it teaches.
He however called on Muslims to use the period of celebration to pray for unprecedented success of Governor Seyi Makinde as he began to deliver on Omituntun 2.0 mantra.
Not only but also tasked them to pray for other elected public office holders under the banner of People’s Democratic Party(PDP) and others across the federation.
Farinto prayed for hitch free celebration that is in line with Islamic dictate and within the confinement of law and order across Oyo State and beyond.
