Oyo Assembly Names Principal Officers, Ad-Hoc committee To Investigate Suspended Local Government Chairmen

Oyo State House of Assembly has announced its five official principal officers.

The announcement came to being during its first sitting after 10th Assembly inauguration on Wednesday 14th June, 2023 at the Oyo State House of Assembly hallowed chamber,Secretariat,Ibadan on Tuesday.

The officers included the Majority leader, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin(Ogbomosho South), Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Olasunkanmi Babalola(Egbeda),Chief Whip- Hon. Gbenga Oyekola(Atiba), Deputy chief Whip, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi(Ibadan South East 1) and Minority Leader, Hon. Salami Ayinde( Orelope).

Speaking, the speaker,Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said the officers were unanimously agreed for leadership of the House in the 10th Assembly.

Similarly, the House announced a seven-man Adhoc committee to investigate the sometime suspended local government chairmen including Kajola, Iseyin and Saki-west over fund misappropriation.

The Adhoc committee would be chaired by a legislator representing Ibarapa North/ Central , Hon. Peter Ojedokun, saddled with the responsibility of completing already begun investigations on the chairmen by the House committee on Local government and chieftaincy during the 9th Assembly which was dissolved on 9th June this year and to report at the House this Thursday.

In his reaction after the plenary, chairman, Ad-hoc committee, Hon. Peter Ojedokun, member representing Ibarapa North/Central, said the committee will ensure sincere investigation is conducted as to fully enshrine transparency which will further strengthen quest for socio-political tenet of the state.

Hon. Tunde Kehinde(Akinyele 2),
Hon. Gabriel Babajide(Ibadan North 2);
Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin(Ogbomosho South)
Hon. Dele Adeola(Iseyin/Itesiwaju) and,
Hon. Akande Opeyemi respectively.
