The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state congratulates the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin over his recorded reelection as the leader of the legislative arm of government for a second consecutive time.

The party, while congratulating the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Abiodun Fadeyi, and Honourable Onaolapo Sanjo Adedoyin, on June 15, for their emergence as the Deputy Speaker and Majority Leader respectively, expressed confidence in a more robust relationship between the Executive and Legislative arms of government under the leadership of the 10th Oyo Assembly.

While also congratulating Federal House of Representatives members from Oyo state on the platform of PDP over their successful and rancor free inauguration, the ruling party said the prospects of actualizing Omititun 2.0 were already manifesting in the state.

A statement by the PDP Chairman in the state, Honourable Dayo Ogungbenro and made available to journalists by the Publicity Secretary, Akeem Olatunji described the emergence of the 10th Assembly as not only epochal but historical saying the history made in the hallowed chambers yesterday would remain as first of its kind in the state.

While commending Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership style, his continuous trust and confidence in grooming young leaders and providing platforms for youths to take up more leadership roles, Ogungbenro reaffirmed the party’s unwavering support for the Ogundoyin led House of Assembly.

The chairman of the ruling party in the state however, urged all other 27 lawmakers on the platform of PDP to give Ogundoyin the expected maximum cooperation and support in order for the House to achieve even more than it achieved in the 9th Assembly saying their actions and inactions at the hallowed chambers would be credited to their individual names in the history books.

The party solicited more synergy and cooperation of the House of Assembly with the Makinde led government in order to achieve Omititun 2.0 Sustainable Development Agenda noting that only a robust relationship between the two arms of government as evident under Omititun 1.0 Accelerated Development Agenda could make such expectation a reality.

Ogungbenro said, “Like the saying goes, reward for success is more work and by the proclamation of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde yesterday, 10th Oyo state House of Assembly has been born officially therefore, the House owe it a duty to the state to justify the trust reposed in them.

“The leadership of the House and the entire 10th Assembly lawmakers owe it a duty to the people of Oyo state to shun all forms of divisive vices and acrimonious relationship among themselves that could become clog in the wheel of progress. They must realize that each time they step out of their homes on legislative duties, it is no longer about themselves but the good people of the state.

“While we congratulate members of the 10th Assembly on their successful and rancor free inauguration yesterday, particularly the new leadership under Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, it is expedient to point out that the mandates given to the lawmakers are evidences of the people’s trust in them, what they do with the mandates in the next four years would be their reward back to the people for the trust reposed in them.

“We as the ruling party in Oyo state, therefore, solicit the maximum cooperation and support of the 10th Assembly for the Seyi Makinde led government in order to actualize the tasks ahead which have been carefully encapsulated in the Omititun 2.0 Sustainable Development Agenda.

“It is very important to state categorically that PDP in Oyo state has absolute confidence in the leadership of 10th Assembly under Rt. Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin and his ability to bring his legislative experience to bear in the discharge of his official duties. We assure the House that PDP will journey with them all the way and provide all needed supports.”
