Democracy Day: Olayemi Lauds Late MKO Abiola On Price Paid Over June 12

A candidate of PDP for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, Oyo State, at the just concluded general election, Hon. Busari Olayemi has lauded late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola on huge price paid after annulment of June 12, 1993.

Olayemi’s commendation was contained in a release which he personally signed on commemoration of democracy day that is coincidental to June 12.

Ibadan-born politician and chieftain of PDP said, he joined eminent Nigerians regardless of any status to wish all and sundry on commemoration of democracy day.

He maintained that, today’s celebration is sinquanon in our Democracy as its remembrance of the struggle and sacrifices made by the heroes of our democracy, of which Basorun MKO Abiola and others are martyrs.

While going in a memory lane, he said it was three decades today that the presidential election won by late Chief MKO Abiola was annulled by power that be then.

He noted that, Abiola with feelings and love of all Nigerians paid dearly , the supreme price of death; while others were imprisoned or exiled.

Olayemi gave thanks to God almighty that the price paid in the last 30 years had no doubt yielded positive results for the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria.

He however called on all politicians and most especially the public office holders to prioritize the welfare and betterment of all Nigerians without preferential treatment.

He said that, an attainment of good governance would no doubt address various challenges mitigating the progress of the country and its dwellers.
