A Chieftain of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State and front lined member of National Democratic Coalition(NADECO), Hon. Olusola Ogunbode has described late His Excellency, Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola GCFR and winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential Election as a notable and patriotic Icon who would be remembered for life as Nigerians commemorate the freest and credible election in history.

Okeho-born politician and activist who stood against Military Juntas over annulled June 12 said he was happy to see a great day meant for commemoration of the freest, credible and transparent election which power that be then triggered its annulment.

Ogunbode however showered encomiums on former President Muhammadu Buhari over acknowledgement of late MKO Abiola as winner of the election and declaration of June 12 as democracy day in Nigeria.

He maintained that Yorubas and entire Nigerians would forever be grateful to Muhammadu Buhari for toeing path of justice despite all pressures against his firm stance and belief over June 12.

Ogunbode recalled how he and others already in USA started protest against the annulment of June 12 before those who were forced into exile by the military dictators joined them.

Among those that he acknowledged as part of struggle are Gen. Alani Akinrinade, Prof Bolaji Akinyemi, Prof Ropo Sekoni, Dr Akingba, Prof Segun Gbadegesin, Femi Falana(SAN), Engr Kunle Badmus, Arc Abiodun Adepoju, Dr Hakeem Fahm and a host of others

Ogunbode gave glory to God almighty for making him alive to witness the commemoration of June 12 as it remains democracy day in Nigeria.

The APC Chieftain also gave glory to God almighty over possibility of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential ambition, and as he stands to make first national broadcast on democracy day after his assumption of office.

He described His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Champion of NADECO’s struggle, who ensured that June 12 presidential election must not be swept under the carpet.

Ogunbode enjoined Nigerians to see reasons for celebration of this date and however appealed to them to be patient with the current government as better days are lie ahead.
