Governor Seyi Makinde is the fifth democratically elected governor of Oyo State since the 1999 full-fledged democratic era in the country, after the ruling of Late Lam Adesina (1999-2003), Chief Rashidi Ladoja(2003-2005), Late Gov. Alao Akala (2005-2011), Late Abiola Ajimobi (2011-2019) and now himself Gov. Seyi Makinde (2019 until 2027).

In the year 2019, Governor Seyi Makinde while delivering his first inaugural speech at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium,Ibadan, tore open embargo on the Agodi-Secretariat fly-over to every official and dick, tom and harry for plying, with several commitment towards satisfying state workers and citizens largely formalizing payment of salary and pension concurrently with no hitch from 2019 till date; pronouncement of no fee payment on primary and secondary education; promotion of workers adequately ; road investments to boost local economies; informally formally meeting the citizens and their yearnings: People of Ajia in Egbeda/Ona Ara Local Government Area will forever remember his warmth gesture towards them late December,2022 as many of them became housed; inter-zones linkages; modernity to local government administration on socio-economic infrastructure; security priority including purchase of security equipment and vehicle; renovation of security offices including Ojoo and Secretariat burnt police offices; prompt relief provision as exemplified during the 2020 Endsars and Covid-19 Periods; upgrade of state tertiary institutions including the Ladoke Akintola University,Ogbomosho, Emmanuel Alayande University,Oyo and First Technical University,Ibadan( now renames Abiola Ajimobi University ,Ibadan); creation of State Transport Sector known as Park Management System,PMS which plenty of states in the Southwest including Lagos, Ogun, Ondo,Ekiti and even now Osun have adopted.
Governor Seyi Makinde is a personality that believes in Science, logic and data; one of the reasons the prestigious Ajayi Crowther University,Oyo awarded him an honourary doctoral degree in Science(Dsc.) earlier 2023 based on success recorded in his engineering prowess and political dealing in the state which has named him credible for the position of Vice-Chairman,Nigeria Governors’ Forum(NGF).
Makinde is a solid administrator who tactically administers . The World shook with fear as he stressed on Monday 29th May,2023 while delivering another inaugural speech at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium that his 2.0 Mantra will implement all existing laws against waste management , traffic and street trading with beginning positive yielding.
First of its kind in the history of Oyo State ,Governor Seyi Makinde sponsored aerobatics led by one Mr Mark ,one of the three UK pilots sponsored to fly airplanes for display for nine hours unstoppably until they appeared physically at the Gala Night Event of the second term inauguration held at the International Conference Centre Hall, University of Ibadan,Ibadan,Nigeria on May 29,2023.
Governor Seyi Makinde has made another huge history as he created an agency which I regard “Oyo NOA”, births Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OMASED) which will be saddled with the responsibility of local sensitization on traditional and modern means across the state; readiness to power independent electricity as he has already commissioned a 500KVA transformer at over five communities at Ona-Ara Local Government Area in partnership with an Ibadan business magnate, Dr. Dotun Sanusi and ongoing Oyo Gas and Shell Project at kilometre 10, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
As a matter of fact, Governor Seyi Makinde broke another record in the state by bridging gaps among the public transporters by roofing them under the state transport service,Park Management System(PMS) to institute friendliness and enabling economic environment to both local and foreign investors- a welcome development by all and sundry in the state; the effort which has drawn Ejiogbe, Tommy- Baba Bola, Weere, Tokyo together as an entity , after the former Chairman, Disciplinary Committe,PMS, Chief Lamidi Mukaila ‘Auxiliary’ was formally retired with no or little hitch recorded in the process- Gov. Magical hands of Governor Seyi Makinde are expected to finger deeply into issues for positivity in the 2.0 Mantra even beyond expectation, anyway, the same hands, began work in addressing possible cloudy workers’ strike in the country due to unaffordable fuel prices eventuated by removal of fuel subsidy former President Muhammad Buhari before May 28th 2023, one of which Economics experts have declared the need to do in the country to kill undue debt tendencies , met with the state Labour Leaders including Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC( Comrade Kayode Martins) and Trade Union Congress,TUC ( Comrade Olatunbosun Olabiyi) on Monday 5th June,2023 which architectured a wage review committee to address effects of subsidy and inflation even without coercion; and even amendment to a chieftaincy law which was knotty for donkey years and transforming of Ibadan Airport to an international standard by providing a 5,000 air fuel tank which the last administration promptly renamed in its eleventh hour to Ladoke Akintola International Airport.
Seyi Makinde is a political magician; he will soon announce a substantive vice-chancellor over the Emmanuel Alayande University ,Oyo for a quicker academic activity and as well appointment of diligent commissioners and special Advisers of his magical cabinet for 2.0
