LAUTECH: Oke-Ogun People Thank Makinde Over Proposed Takeoff Of Academic Activities In Iseyin

The people of Oke-Ogun zone axis of Oyo State have showered encomiums on Governor Seyi Makinde over approval granted to commencement of academic activities at the Campus of LAUTECH in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government, Area of the state.

Their commendation was at the instance of emergency meeting attended by people of the zone comprising ten(10) local governments, and which aimed at appreciating Governor over academic activities which begin on June 5, 2023.

In his opening remarks, Ikolaba of Iseyinland, High Chief Ismail Odubiyi while speaking at the palace of Aseyin on Monday, May 22, hailed Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the seat of LAUTECH’s Faculty of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources at Iseyin.

Odubiyi added that the decision taken by the Governor had wiped their tears of over 50 years in quest for acquisition and ownership of standard higher institutions.

He however called on faceless groups who are fanning ember of discord between Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso in order to discourage the Governor over his decision to return on path of destruction.

The Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, Hon. Muftau Abilawon enjoined people of the community and its environs not to hike prices of their accommodations while academic activities commence on June 5, 2023.

He said, an ability and readiness to make accommodations, goods and other things available at cheaper rates for students and others would no doubt make community habitable for their academic engagement.

Barrister Bayo Raji who spoke on behalf of Oke-Ogun Development Consultative Forum lauded Governor Seyi Makinde for making education available at the door step of every zone in Oyo State.

He maintained that the Campus of LAUTECH in Iseyin would be beneficial to all sons and daughters of Oke-Ogun zone and beyond, calling on segments in Ogbomoso who are hellbent to truncate the process to jettison the plans.

PA Ajuwon Oladejo who took the centre stage in respect of Elders in Oke-Ogun maintained that the two zones(Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso) need not to fight over the governor’s decision as his plans aimed at developing both for progress and limitless growth.

He said, while Oke-Ogun are happy over the gesture, the Ogbomos who are embittered with the development should please be calmed and peaceful as dividends of democracy meant for each zone are limitless.

In his position, Chairman, LAUTECH Adhoc Committee, Hon. Abdulwaheed Olaniyan said, ” we believe we; Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso are one big family. Even politically, we were put under the same senatorial district. This suggested that we Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso are one and so need for the zones to allow equity and justice in the sharing of dividends of democracy. Oke-Ogun were magnanimous enough to give an Ogbomoso indigene the privilege of representing Oyo North Senatorial District for three consecutive terms. This proved that we were being guided by our sense of maturity, civility and peaceful coexistence. LAUTECH belongs to Oyo State NOT Ogbomoso”.

Other speakers whose voices were heard at the meeting are Alhaji Ibrahim Gbeko, Chairman, Iseyin Development Union, Alawaye of Awayeland, Oba Amidu Adewale.

Earlier, the religious leaders under the leadership of Chief Imam of Iseyinland, Sheikh Abdulakeem Olajori, CAN Chairman, Iseyin LG and Oluwo of Iseyinland, Chief Ifasoji Adeyemi coordinated the prayer session for the programme.

The meeting was well attended as glitz and glam across Oke-Ogun zone were in attendance.
