The coast has become clearer that the ruling party,PDP in Oyo State which trades Seyi Makinde in the 2023 Gubernatorial Election is the winner .
The local government collated election results across the 33 councils in Oyo state as announced by returning officers who were largely drawn from the University of Ibadan on Sunday indicated that the 6 major political parties ACCORD(38,357), APC (256,685), PDP (566,766); NNPP (964),and SDP(2824), PDP earthquaked all contested parties with reasons some analysts have regarded populism and public oriented agenda set by Makinde.
Speaking with the newsmen, the state secretary, the All Progressives’ Congress,APC, Alhaji Olanite Tajudeen stated that the Party will seek justice at the law court after official declaration of the winner .
Olanite added that over voting and electoral fraud remain a sort of pointer in the 2023 Gubernatorial/State House of Assembly Election which will trigger challenge of the results at the law court owing to evident over- voting and violence resulting in disruption in the voting exercise and ballot boxes snatching during the Elections.
Reacting, DG campaign officer and current chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board who represented People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the State,Dr. Nureni Adeniran faulted wrong data input of Olorunsogo result as 40851 against 4,851 for APC by Channels Television which ran a live coverage of the event with an immediate rectification on its platforms.
Nureni charged newsmen to always ensure patience and credibility in their duties as to avoid undue public confusion.
Meanwhile, the Chairman, returning officer, Independent National Electoral Commission and as well
the Vice- Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Akure, FUTA, Prof. Adebayo Bamire while declaring the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde the winner for second term in office having polled 566,766 out of the citizens that registered for permanent voter Card,PVC which were numbered over 3 million.
Recall, Makinde cleared results of 31 Local government areas out of 33 while only 2, Irepo and Orelope were slimly won by the APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Sen. Teslim Folarin with 9,785 and 7,077 respectively while Makinde at the two local government areas had 7,193 and 6,483.
