The lawmaker representing Ibadan North West/South West federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Stanley Olajide, on Tuesday, attributed the crisis of the new naira notes on lack of consultation by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Olajide also charged the federal government to work on a new constitution and embark on restructuring of the country with a view to moving the nation forward.
The lawmaker gave the charge while addressing a Christian fellowship group in Ibadan, saying Nigeria needs a new constitution that will steer the country in the right direction.

He said the policy of Godwin Emefiele led Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lacked consultation, hence the financial crisis which is fast ravaging the economy and the people in the last few weeks.
According to him, for the nation to achieve good governance capable of fostering national development, the government must embark on the restructuring; adding that what Nigerians need is a working system that will give them a sense of security and quality living.

“The current constitution of the nation is outdated, we need a new constitution that will help the nation to move forward in the right direction. Also, Nigeria needs to be restructured, this is the only option because the current Nigeria is not working. This is one of the legislative agendas I plan to champion when I return to Abuja.
“Anybody coming to lead Nigeria must look into restructuring and autonomy for local government administration in the country.

These factors are paramount to the nation’s development.
“Most of the works or projects lawmakers carry out belong to the local government, for instance road construction and others are the responsibilities of local government and not lawmakers”, he said.
Olajide, who is seeking a second term in office blamed the current situation of the country on bad leadership, urging the people to get ready their Permanent Voter Card (PVCs) to vote in good leaders that will move the nation forward in the next dispensation.
According to him, the untold hardship which fuel scarcity and the menace of insufficient new naira notes have inflicted on the people in the last few weeks are as a result of
nonchalant attitude of All Progressive Congress (APC) led government and lack of consultation from Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

“The policy of Godwin Emefiele led Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lacked consultation, hence the financial crisis which is fast ravaging the economy and the people in the last few weeks.”
Speaking on some of his achievements, Hon. Olajide told the Christian group that his administration has impacted positively on the people of his federal constituency in the areas of education, health, ICT centers, financial empowerment for widows, aged women and many others.

“Apart from the financial empowerment I did for over three hundred and eighty seven thousand widows, I also provided 3 ICT centers to the tune of one hundred million naira for youths and students in my constituency because my priority is education.
“Aside from provision of health facilities, we embarked on medical outreach to improve the health of our people as well as many other empowerment programs to improve the standard of living of the people.”

“My visit here today is to seek your support spiritually and physically on this Prayer altar as a formidable Christian group. I want to assure you that I will be committed to the wellbeing of my people in governance of the nation.”
Hon. Olajide while urging the beneficiaries in his constituency to make judicious use of items they benefitted, also called for their support in the forth coming election, assuring the people of more dividends of democracy if they vote him for a second term in office.
He appealed to those who are yet to benefit from his scheme to be patient as plans are ongoing to extend the gestures to them in no time.
