Oyo state government has assured of total fulfillment of its welfare promises to leadership of Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress and Pensioners Union led by Kayode Martins, Bosun Olabiyi and Segun Abatan respectively undilutedly in the year 2023.
This was stated by the state governor, Seyi Makinde at the executive chamber, secretariat Ibadan on Wednesday while meeting with the Labour Unions in the state.
Makinde added that his administration has been spending 13billion naira monthly on state wage bills, settlement of 4years backlog of staff promotion , settlement of 3years of backlog of primary teachers’ leave bonus of between 1.2 and 1.3Billion naira, continual payment of 100 percent tertiary Institutions’ subventions despite additional of 1Billion naira; all being a factor for non-fulfillment of good promises to the state labour unions.

“Since the inception of this administration, we have had the mindset of serving the entire state better, yet all of these lie on fund.
” We really made promises , but now find out that some of those promises may be too difficult to fullfil, hence we consider alternative project funding as only through this capital projects could be guaranteed.
” The IGR here in the state has moved upward as allocation funds from the federal government to the state until now is augmented from between 500 million and 2billion naira to satisfy monthly wage bill for both the state and local government workforce which now amounts 13billion naira ,every four weeks”
” In fact, to satisfy this, we have got to commission some infrastructure to investors which definitely may have effect on the future generation, but we must not fail to do the needful”, Makinde explained.
Earlier, the leaders of NLC, Kayode Martins, credited the governance steering of the present led administration led by Seyi Makinde, with the additional information that his Union members are solidly behind its re-election bid.

Similarly, the TUC chairman, Bosun Olabiyi applauded the state government, though believed that the yearnings of his Unions,which were documented to the governor will be addressed on or before next year March before its likely meeting with the state government.
Speaking,the state chairman, Pensioners,Comrade Segun Abatan urged the state governor to promptly consider 13th month pension payment to its members as to cushion stagnation and as well give good living to Pensioners all through the year.
Meanwhile, the governor assured that his administration will consider upping packages and as well 13th month pension payment to pensioners, while other unions’ yearnings be effected from March, 2023.
