The candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Oyo South Senatorial District, Chief Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, on Monday assured the Muslim community in the state of his willingness to prioritise their welfare, if elected senator in 2023.
He made this pledge as he joined Islamic faithfuls across Oyo State to celebrate this year’s Maulud Nabbyyi at different locations in Ibadan.
At the Maulud Nabbyyi programme, organized by the League of Imams and Alfas in Ibadan North-East Local Government Area of the state which held at Iwo Road Central Mosque, various Islamic leaders, who spoke expressed concern over what they called lack of accessibility by successive
representatives of the senatorial district. They, however, commended Tegbe for his support for the Muslim community over the years, including reaching out to religious leaders and the less privileged during Ramadan and Eid-el Kabir festivals.
In his response, the senatorial candidate, who solicited for the
support of the Muslim Ummah for his senatorial ambition, said that he
would continue to be available and accessible as well as prioritise their
welfare when elected as senator during the 2023 general elections.
Among other things, Tegbe pledged continued hajj sponsorship of Muslim faithful and donation of a bus to the League of Imams and Alfas for smooth running of its activities.
At the Maulud Nabbyyi programme, organized by the Hausa community in the state, the Sarkin Hausawa, Alh Dahiru Zungeru gave his royal blessing to the ambitious of Tegbe and other PDP candidates. He appreciated Tegbe for identifying with the Hausa community, and the Muslim populace in general. He recalled that Tegbe had always done well for the hausas in Ibadan, since the time of his predecessor.
The senatorial candidate also assured of quality representation and facilitation of projects that would have direct impacts on the lives of the people of the senatorial district, if elected senator, come 2023.
