Acting Accountant-General has been sacked for exposing Buhari’s Government. The acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Mr. Chukwuyere N. Anamekwe, has been sacked by the Federal Government. AGF Mr. Okolieaboh Ezeoke Sylvis, a former TSA (Treasury Single Account) Director was appointed to replace him. This Newspaper learned that the government was not happy with his acceptance that Buhari’s government was borrowing money to pay salaries.
On May 22, Anamekwe was named acting AGF. On June 14, he said the contentious thing about the government borrowing money to pay salaries. Seven days later, he was replaced. The first quarter of 2023 will see Mr. Sylva leave office. According to a source who spoke with The Nation, the Federal Government has started looking for a new AGF. Mrs. Folasade Yemi-Esan, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), has issued a circular to that effect.
The HoCSF instructed permanent secretaries to send information on qualified directors in Grade 17 to her by no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 in a memo titled, “Commencement of the process of appointment of a substantive Accountant-General of the Federation.”
