Oyo: OnaAra Council Boss, Sanusi Reiterates Administration’s Support To UNICEF, RUWASSA

The executive chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, Hon. Sanusi Musibau Adesina has reiterated his administration supports to the management of UNICEF and RUWASSA to curb open defecations in the state.

This was made known during the visitation of the organization to the council. He stated that Ona Ara has been supportive since the inception of the exercise few months ago and ready to cooperate in making open defecation a thing of the past.

Speaking further, Hon. Sanusi charged the legislative arms to further sensitize their different communities on the dangers of open defecations like cholera, diarrhea among other communicable diseases.

Responding on behalf of the team, the zonal UNICEF Officer, Mr Tony Monday commended the efforts of the Chairman and management during the first phase of the exercise. He noted that the 54%of Oyo State people used open defecations as their means of defecating.

Mr Monday further enlightened that the exercise will afford communities to have access to public toilets in their various communities.

The Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Olapade Fatai expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the team and pledged their cooperation to the team.

While appreciating the UNICEF, the Director of Environmental Health Services, Mrs R. O. Popoola stated that Ona Ara is always ready in combating all environmental disasters in the council.

She however gave kudos to the Chairman for his support and cooperation all the times. She implored the residents to cooperate with the officials while on field for their duties.

Presence were, Mr Abioye from Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Engr. Omirinde ,General Manager Oyo RUWASSA, Mr Gabriel Leke, the Chief of staff to the Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olayiwola Yisau, Super for Environmental Health Services and all the Honorable Councillors.
