The Nigeria police authority has informed its personnel across the country that Nigerians have the right to film and take their pictures while they are performing their duties.
The Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Police Headquarters, Prince Muyiwa Adejobi said this on Tuesday in a tweet he made over the relationship of officers with the public, especially their often negative response to people filming them while making arrest or during routine stop and search operations.

Adejobi added that as public servants, the police is the closest to the people and should be seen as their friends, especially when the officer has nothing negative in mind or perpetrating any evil act while in uniform.
“When you do the right thing, you wont be afraid of being snapped or recorded. There is no crime in taking my pix or video me on duty, same to other policemen. We are public servants and we are the closest to the public, so we should be seen as such.

“We urge our personnel to embrace the citizens and relate with them better. Nigerians can take your pix whenever they feel so, don’t take any offence in that.”
