Hon. Busari Olayemi, ex member of Oyo State House of Assembly and one time member of the House of Representatives has emerged the candidate of the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) for Egbeda/OnaAra Federal Constituency.
Olayemi who won with 67 votes while 33 votes were garnered from OnaAra delegates and 34 votes came from the delegates who represented Egbeda Local Government.
The peaceful and rancour free PDP primary election took place at SDP Wema Area, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State on Monday, may 23.
Dr Rasheed Aderemi Raji, The Returning Officer for the exercise declared Olayemi the winner of an election and however acknowledged the civic engagement as a rancour free, peaceful and notable one.
Earlier before the commencement of the election, an aspirant jostling for same portfolio, Hon. Ezekiel Temitope known as ‘ Otope’ had stepped down for Olayemi as a consensus candidate for the federal constituency.
While appreciating the leaders, delegates and members of the party across the federal constituency, Ibadan-born politician said ” it is a pleasure today that the party has found me worthy of this great responsibility, it is a responsibility because to whom much is given, much is expected, now we have to go out with full force to win the general election to bring a government with human face to our federal constituency”.
Olayemi described the process as an engagement that had elements of love, unity and togetherness and which in totality devoid of rancour and violence among other dastardly acts.
He also praised all relevant stakeholders in the party for their support all along and moreover appealed for further support as the main struggle has just begun.
Elder Wole Oyelese, PDP national leader thanked the participants at the primary for the peaceful methods, ways and manners they conducted themselves that gave birth to fruitful exercise.
Maintaining that umbrella party remains the party that cares for the masses regardless of sentiment and acrimony.
