Oyo North: Ex Reps’ Majority Leader, Mulikat Consults Supporters, Declares Aspiration For Senate

Former Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Akande has declared her aspiration for representation of Oyo North Senatorial District at the upper chamber of National Assembly.

She made disclosure of her aspiration while touring the ten(10) local governments making OkeOgun Geopolitical Zone of Oyo State.

While in Okeho, Kajola Local Government, Mulikat who announced her defection from People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to Social Democratic Party(SDP) stressed that she was on consultation with supporters on her readiness to represent the senatorial district at the House of Senate come 2023.

The Ex Reps’ members added that she is interested in taking a seat at the red chamber in order to take the senatorial district from where it is to desired and expected destination.

Mulikat justified that she had clear and obvious antecedents while she was a member of the House of Representatives and she is ready to do better if she wins party ticket and subsequent general election.

She however enjoined supporters and loyalists to ensure they register for permanent voter’s cards(PVCs) provided they have not acquired theirs, maintaining that electoral system is better participated when one exercises his/her rights to vote and be voted for.

On preparation for party’s primaries, Mulikat maintained that there would be primaries as mandated by Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) and consensus arrangement would be considered in order to avoid wastage of resources and enhancement of rancour free engagement.

Calling on stakeholders and leaders of SDP across all levels to ensure they field credible candidates whose candidatures would be acceptable to the electorate.

On circumstances precipitating her defection to SDP, she lamented that it was painful that despite all efforts made to install the government led by Governor Seyi Makinde, it was quite unfortunate that he is so ungrateful towards recognition of hard work, asking people to forge ahead and refrain from activities which are capable of causing violence and disorderliness.

Earlier, Comrade Michael Okunlade, SDP State Chairman appreciated supporters for trooping out enmass to welcome them all to OkeOgun Zone, maintaining that their participation at the meeting justified that they are all ready to move along with SDP.

Okunlade called on all leaders and members to go back to their respective wards and ensure their membership base keeps increasing on daily basis.

Mr Wasiu Kazeem, SDP Chairman in Kajola Local Government welcomed the dignitaries on consultation and familiarization to the council area, ascertaining they are all ready to embrace SDP as a new political party and they are eager to work for its victory at the general elections.

The epoch making occasion was attended by the party’s leaders: Alhaji TA Salau, Alhaji Musodiq Adele Alawiye, Alhaji Azeez Ogundijo, Chief Waheed Ajadi, Hon. Yahya Salau, Elder Alimi Olaewe, Alhaji Akeem Kewulere, Madam Fatimoh Muazim, Mrs Sinmiat Bakare, Alhaji Noah Eleniyan, youths, women and other mammoth supporters respectively.
