Lawmaker representing Ibadan Southeast Constituency 1 at Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. AbdulRasak Ademola Abdullah popularly known as ‘Omosheu’ has mourned the late Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Adeyemi III, describing him a knowledgeable monarch of historical facts and records.
In a personal tribute to the late monarch, Omosheu said that the late highly revered monarch was a knowledgeable monarch of historical records, who left, when his sufficient pool of knowledge, experience and wisdom are mostly needed.
Oyo Lawmaker said, Nigeria had lost a crusader for peace, stability and unity whose concern throughout of his lifetime premised on development across the length and breadth of the country.
Omosheu extolled the imperial majesty’s leadership dexterity, intelligence and remarkable characters, adding that the late Yoruba monarch was the most articulate monarch he had ever seen, and also a great asset to the black race who will be missed by all in many respects.
He stressed that his demise became rude shock to him and indeed a huge loss to Oyo State, Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.
He said, “by the death of the Alaafin, Nigeria has lost a great father, patriot and nationalist whose contributions to the stability of Oyo State, Yorubaland and Nigeria was enormous.
“Baba departed at a time when his wise counsel would have been needed to navigate through the nation’s trying times. He was not only a peacemaker but also a legendary king that reigned in two different centuries.
“Having served in many exalted capacities during his almost 52 years reign as Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, Nigeria owes him a measure of gratitude for his contributions to the socio-political and economic development of the country”.
Omosheu prayed God to grant him eternal rest and equally give the family members, people of Oyo State, Yoruba race and Nigerians, the fortitude to bear the huge loss.
