Oyo Speaker, Ogundoyin Mourns Alaafin, Describes Him As Walking Encyclopedia

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, is the first Government functionary to pay tribute to the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who passed on yesterday evening.

Ogundoyin, in his tribute made available to this newspaper, said the late Monarch was one of the most reverred royal fathers in Africa and the longest reigning Alaafin of Oyo.

“He was one of the most revered Royal Father in Africa and the longest-reigning Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III”, he wrote.

Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin said, though, the news of his demise came as a rude shock, it was really a privilege to have witnessed Alaafin’s reign, adding that, he was a beneficiary of his wise counsel.

“We always value his contributions to the socio-cultural development, economical growth of ancient Oyo town and Oyo State and also his unaging wisdom which has always brighten our paths and guide us into meticulous administrative decisions”, he added.

He commiserated with the Oloris, the princes and princesses, the entire Oyo palace and Oyomesi, Sons and Daughters of the ancient Oyo town, Oyo State government and residents, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Yoruba Monarchs and entire traditional rulers in Nigeria and Africa.

“As you embark on your journey to the world beyond, May God always guard and guide all you left behind IkuBabaYeye”, he concluded.
