Alaafin Was A Democrat, Custodian Of Yoruba Tradition — Oyo Assembly Member, Arole Mourns Passage

Member representing Oyo East/West State Constituency at Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Isiaka Kazeem fondly known as “Arole” has commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State on the passage of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi,the Alaafin of Oyo.

Arole , who is a strong chieftain of APC described late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi as a true democrat and custodian of Yoruba tradition.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to naijatodaynew.com describing Oba Adeyemi as a human library with abundant knowledge whose all round experience and skills cut across the history of Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.

Arole described him a father, colossus, democrat, prodigy of erudition and a nationalist who would be sorely missed.

He said it was a personal loss to him because Oba Adeyemi was his father, whose fatherly role and pieces of advice towards his elevation in life can’t be forgotten in a hurry.

Arole showed his commiseration with the Government and good people of Oyo State and the entire Yorubaland over the demise of revered traditional ruler, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Lamidi Adeyemi III,the Alaafin of Oyo, who joined his ancestors at the age of 83 years.

He said, “the exit of Oba Adeyemi III is a great loss to all of us in Yorubaland and indeed, the whole of Nigeria. Oba Adeyemi was a symbol and custodian of the rich culture and traditions of the Yoruba traditional institution as well as a source of inspiration for the entire Yorubaland.

He stressed that, Kabiyesi was a cherished leader and a respected Elder Statesman who demonstrated exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment towards the unity, cohesion, harmony and continued development of the Oyo empire, the entire Yorubaland and Nigeria.

Arole prayed God to grant Alaafin eternal rest and equally give the family, government and people of Oyo State an equanimity to bear the huge loss.
