Refrain From Imposition Of Candidates, Toe Path Of Democratic Tenets — Oyo NUJ Enjoins Political Key Players

Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ OkeOgun Federated Chapel has enjoined the key players among political parties to refrain from imposition of candidates and toe path of democratic tenets.

NUJ OkeOgun Federated Chapel made this admonition in its communique issued shortly after the congress held in Saki, Saki West Local Government,Oyo State on Saturday, April 9.

According to the communique which goes thus:

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF THE CONGRESS OF NIGERIA UNION OF JOURNALISTS (NUJ), OKEOGUN FEDERATED CHAPEL, HELD ON SATURDAY, 9TH APRIL, 2022 AT NTA ARENA, SAKI, SAKI WEST LOCAL GOVERNMENT, OYO STATE.

At the end of the fruitful deliberations of members on issues pertaining to the progress of the chapel, the following resolutions were met.

That the Congress frowned at the spate of insecurity across the country and however called on National Assembly to charge Federal Government on needs for international assistance to fight the menace of banditry and terrorism.

That the feelings of unhappiness were expressed in connection with economic hardship that allegedly gives birth to ritual killings, kidnappings, banditry and other forms of heinous crimes.

That the pains of tertiary institutions’ students who are on strike were humanly considered, as the Congress called on Academic Staff Union of University(ASUU) and Federal Government to reach a compromise and get the students back to schools.

That the Congress frowned at the proposed payment of One Thousand Naira(#1,000.00) that Jambites are to make at the point of entry for Universal Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME).

That the attention of political parties was called to firm adherence to upholding of democratic tenets.

That the Congress charged Federal Government and Governor Seyi Makinde to give full autonomy to whom is due.

That an approval was given to candidatures of Comrade Tajudeen Adeniji(Chairman), Comrade Peju Oyelakin(Secretary) and Comrade Moshood Adebisi(Member) as members of Credentials Screening Committee for the chapel’s next election.

That the Congress felicitated Muslim Faithfuls in OkeOgun zone on current celebration of Ramadan 1443AH and moreover tasked them to use the period of self denial to pray fervently against unpleasant phenomenal threatening the unity of the country.

That the Congress throwed its weight behind Ademola Babalola and Prince Semiu Azeez led administrations and moreover enjoined them to leave no stone unturned to give their best for attainment of more feats at the State Council and OkeOgun’s chapel respectively.
