The Publicity Secretary of Oyo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Engineer Akeem Olatunji has picked up his party’s Expression of Interest and INEC Nomination Forms.
Olatunji who confirmed the development to this news medium on Thursday April 7, after picking up his forms saying that he is more than ready and committed to deliver Oluyole federal constituency for the ruling party come 2023 general election.
It would be recalled that the leadership of the ruling PDP in the state resolved to adopt consensus approach in the selection of who flies the party’s ticket at the forthcoming general election.
Following the adoption of consensus approach by the party, this medium gathered that Olatunji enjoys a controlling and overwhelming support of the PDP Stakeholders in Oluyole local federal constituency to clinch the party ticket.
Olatunji expressed his confidence in the leadership of the party in the state and Oluyole federal constituency to follow through in the entire process to ensure that a popular and credible aspirant emerges the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2023 polls.
However, a source within the party reveals that there was however, a new twist at the final stage of ratifying Akeem Olatunji’s candidature.
According to the source, Governor Seyi Makinde had told the party Stakeholders in the state that party primary will be conducted at any constituency where a consensus could not be reached.
The source however, maintained that Akeem Olatunji is the most popular among all the aspirants including the present Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola.
