The Office of the Deputy President of the Senate has today directed all political appointees who are delegates to the state House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential Elections to resign their appointments.
Naijatodaynew.com learnt that this directives include those who are holding positions in the party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This development was made known in a signed memo by the Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate, Motive Igbuzor, dated 30th March, 2022.
According to the memo, the directive to political appointees in government and the ruling party became expedient as a result of the provisions of the recently amended Electoral Act.
Furthermore, all concerned political appointees have been directed to tender their resignation letters on or before 11th April, 2022.
“I wish to draw the attention of all political appointees who are delegates to the State House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship and Presidential primaries Election, including those who are holding positions in the party, to please put up their Resignation Letters.
“This has become expedient as a result of the Deputy President of the Senate not later than 11th April, 2022.
“All Resignation Letters should get to the Office of the Deputy President of the Senate not later than 11th April, 2022.” The memo reads.
