The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin has said that the late Ex-Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao Akala has left a gap too wide to be filled in the political arena of the pacesetter state and across the nation.
Ogundoyin disclosed this while lying in state of late Governor was taking place at the House of Chiefs, Government Secretariat, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
According to him,”what counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead”, says the late Nelson Mandela.
“The above quote aptly x-rayed the life and times of Former Governor Adebayo Alao Akala who joined the saints triumphant on January 12 , 2022 in his hometown of Ogbomoso at the age of 71.
“Words may not suffice to express how deeply grieved and pained we are knowing fully well that you have left a gap too wide to be filled in the political arena of our dear state and across our nation.
“Our late former Governor was no doubt a great leader, a thorough bred politician, a team leader, a community man and a grassroot mobilizer in all ramifications.
“His benevolence, love for the people coupled with his all inclusive and encompassing political ideology gave him a large followership and undoubtedly made him one of the most accessible, approachable and celebrated political leaders in Oyo state.
“Late Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala unequivocally etched his name in gold and made indelible marks as the Governor of Oyo State between 2007 and 2011. He was the people’s Governor and the Oyato Governor.
“He was indeed an outstanding man with immense leadership and administrative acumen.
“Your style of leadership and governance was unique as you exhibited magnificent grandeur and splendor while reaching out to the core masses and the less privileged.
“There is therefore the need for us to continue to celebrate and honor this great politician and leader for his selfless service to Oyo state and humanity at large.
“Adieu to the People’s Governor. Oyato”, Ogundoyin ended.
