Folarin Bags Ansar-Ud-Deen Merit Award, Harps On Religious Tolerance

The Oyo State Branch of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society, on Sunday, honoured Senator Teslim Folarin of Oyo Central Senatorial, Sheik Muhydeen Bello and other dignitaries with Special Merit Awards.

Other awardees included Governor Seyi Makinde, Senator Mohammed Kola Balogun (Oyo South), Senator Ridwan Soji Akanbi, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Hon. Shina Abiola-Peller, Alhaja Modinat Bolanle Akintayo and Alahaji (Chief) Akibu Alagbe Sunmonu.

The awards ceremony, which was held at Islamic Centre, Liberty Road – Oke Ado Ibadan, also featured a public lecture with theme “Islam and Nation Building”. The lecture was delivered by an academic and Islamic scholar, Sheik (Dr.) Nurain Akinniran.

In his welcome speech, the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Islamic society, Alhaji H.T.G Ladejo stated that the special merit awards were to appreciate the awardees for their various contributions in cash and kind to the humanity, the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society and Islam in general.

Notable Nigerian Islamic scholar, Sheik Muhydeen Bello presented Senator Folarin’s Special Merit Award to former commissioner for environment, senior chief of Olubadan and legal luminary, Chief Tirimisiyu Lowo Obisesan.

Senator Folarin, during his acceptance speech, urged Nigerians across religious divide to always tolerate one another and live peacefully to promote national development and growth.

Also represented the three-term senator included Alhaji AbdulRasheed Yinka Folarin, Alhaji Olawale Wahid, Hon. Biliaminu Ogundele, former council chairman – Hon. Akanni Ere; Prince Tunji Ajimobi, Hon. Kunle Teslim, Hon. Tomiwa Alli, Hon. Teslim Odekunle, Alhaji Akeem Lele, Alhaji Akeem Oloyo, Hon. Afolabi Kunle Lege among others.
